Austin has over 20 years experience of working in the third sector, back to volunteering with the Terrence Higgins Trust in the late 1980’s.

Since then he has worked as research associate for the Institute of Education (HIV/AIDS, Mental Health research and evaluation) and studied for a MSc in Social Science Research Methods and Statistics. Austin has worked as a grants officer for a number of funders including Opportunities for Volunteering and Big Lottery Fund (previously National Lottery Charities Board). He also has experience in evaluation and learning as lead officer for the Diana Memorial Fund, and more recently as UK Grants Learning Manager for Comic Relief.
