Statement in response to Finsbury Park terror attack

In response to the terror attack in Finsbury Park on 19 June 2017, Bharat Mehta CBE, Chief Executive of Trust for London, said:

“These have been a difficult two weeks for Londoners. The recent terror attack on innocent people outside Finsbury Park Mosque has been shocking and saddening. As our trustee, The Bishop of Stepney, Rt Rev Adrian Newman has said “an attack on one faith is an attack on us all”. This is a time for resilience and coming together, something Londoners truly know how to do. This is also a time when London’s communities need extra support and we will be playing our part in this. Earlier this year we helped to establish and fund the London Emergencies Trust which provides support to those directly affected by emergency incidents such as this attack. In addition, we have also set up a new Citizenship and Integration Initiative along with the Mayor and other funders, with the longer-term goal of making London a more socially integrated city.”
