Refugee Week is a UK-wide festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.
We are proud to fund organisations across London supporting our city’s refugee communities. Many of these groups have been showcasing their work and the lived experiences of refugees throughout Refugee Week.
Take a look at what some of the groups we work with have been up to this week...
Safe Passage’s Young Leaders shared their experiences of seeking sanctuary in the UK
Breaking Barriers, who provide employment support to refugees, have been sharing inspiring stories from the people they work with
The Magpie Project, who provide help to mothers and children at risk of homelessness, shared a sobering thread on the experiences of mums they support in Home Office hotels
IMIX, who empower people to share their lived experiences, shared a hopeful story about the healing power of nature to support refugees and local communities
The Migration Museum in Lewisham have continued spotlighting the experience of refugees, including through a new exhibition on refugee and migrant owned businesses
Many grantees, including Detention Action, joined the calls to stop 14 June’s Rwanda deportation flight. Detention Action’s Maria wrote about how this happened, and what it means...
Thank you to all of the groups across London carrying out vital work to support refugees and asylum seekers.
