Clare is joining Trust for London as a trustee in March 2020.
Clare is Advocacy Director at the human rights and civil liberties organisation, Liberty. She oversees Liberty’s strategic litigation, policy work and campaigns, advice and information, and investigative teams, who all work together to protect rights and hold the powerful to account.
Prior to joining Liberty in July 2019, Clare was Legal Director at the Equality and Human Rights Commission. She has specialised in human rights, equality, and public law litigation, advisory and policy work since qualifying as a solicitor in 2002.
Clare trained in private practice at the legal aid front line, mainly focussed on community care and asylum support cases. She continued litigating in the domestic courts and the ECHR, and advising on legislative change until moving to Liberty in 2019. She has also worked with the UN treaty bodies, particularly the Committee Against Torture, and a number of partner organisations.
