Building Blocks Open Space report

In March 2007 we held an Open Space event to explore the findings and recommendations which came out of our research, Building Blocks, which looked at the infrastructure support available to frontline community and voluntary groups.

This identified a number of challenges faced by second-tier organisations in meeting the needs of voluntary and community groups.

The question which we posed to those attending the event was:

"What should we do to improve support for frontline groups and how will we know when we've done it?"

It was a stimulating event which over 120 people attended. There were no platform presentations or speeches and everyone had the opportunity to contribute to creating the agenda for the day and to working and developing ideas for the future. It generated a great deal of discussion, debate, ideas and recommendations on how we can improve support to frontline organisations.

The facilitator for the event, Annette Zera, has speedily transformed the main points into a report. It is quite a lengthy document - even longer than the original report! But we hope you will find it useful. We at CPF will certainly look at all of the recommendations and the action plans listed at the back of the report and hope we can work with you in taking a number of them forward.

The document can be downloaded below in pdf format below; (download free PDF viewer).
