Peter Delaney has been Archdeacon of London from 1999 to 2009. He was Rector of All Hallows by the Tower from 1977 - 2004 and Priest in charge of St Katharine Cree from 1995 - 2000. He is also Rector of St Stephen Walbrook, a post he has held since 2004.
Peter began life with a classical art education in the UK, then worked for NBC Television in the USA, and subsequently served on the staff of Marylebone Parish Church, as Resident Chaplain of the University Church in London, and as a Residentiary Canon of Southwark Cathedral. He is still a practising artist.
He is a past Master of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of World Traders and a Freeman of the Company of Watermen and Lightermen of the River Thames. He is a Governor of two schools, Senior Commissary to the Bishop of Cyprus and the Gulf, a Canon of St Paul's Cathedral in Nicosia and a member of the Greater Chapter of St Paul's Cathedral, London.
Peter served for eight years as a board member of the City Arts Trust, is Chairman of the London Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches and Chairman of the Wakefield Trust.
He is a board member of the City Together and a trustee of Afghan Action. He serves on the board of the Independent Advisory Group for the City of London Police.
His interests are in the arts, especially theatre, gardening and developing communication skills.
