Tzeggai Yohannes Deres came to the UK as a refugee in 1986. He has been the Director of the Evelyn Oldfield Unit since its inception: 1994. He worked as a team leader of the Community Development Team of the Refugee Council. He comes from Science background, but most of his experience revolved around politics, Human Rights movement, management, training and community and social development. He is a qualified community and youth worker.
Over the last sixteen years he has served in a number of organisation management committees including Multi faith Refugee Agency, Consortium of Opportunities for Volunteering, Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and currently represents Evelyn Oldfield Unit at National Refugee Integration Forum chaired by the Home Office.
Tzeggai was appointed as a trustee in 2005. He is a member of the Central Governing Body and the TfL Grants Committee.
