Peter Williams is Black Country born and bred. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in Birmingham, he joined 3i in 1970. He has spent the rest of his working life in private equity. Peter worked for 3i in their offices in Birmingham (twice), Liverpool, Brighton and London. He joined the Group board as head of UK in 1995 and retired from 3i 18 months ago. Since then he has been involved with Bridges Community Ventures, a new fund which provides capital for businesses in the most under invested parts of England. He has also acted as advisor to a private equity fund of funds belonging to a Hamburg-based bank.
Other appointments have included: non-executive director, Midlands Electricity; Council member, Institute of Chartered Accountants; Council member CBI SME; leadership Team, Business in the Environment.
Leisure interests include opera, music (he is learning the piano), fell walking, cycling and bridge.
Peter is married to Roseanne and they have two grown up sons.
